Wednesday marked a big win for Ted Ligety and the United States. With a time of 2 minutes and 45.29 seconds, Ligety won the gold in men’s giant slalom, beating Steve Missillier of France by 48-hundreths of a second. Ligety’s win is the first American gold in Alpine skiing at Sochi. Combined with his 2006 win, he is the only American man to win two Olympic Alpine golds.
