A knife attack on a train station in southern China late Saturday has left a total of 33 people dead, inlcuding 29 people who were slashed to death and four alleged assailants who were shot by police. 143 people were also injured by the attacks. A group of at least ten people in total are believed to be responsible for the lethal hacking. "I saw two attackers, both men, one with a watermelon knife and the other with a fruit knife. They were running and chopping whoever they could,” said a teenage witness. According to China's official Xinhua News Agency, Xinjiang separatist forces were responsible for the attack. The Muslim Uighur population of Xinjiang has rebelled against Chinese rules, but in turn, they have faced a heavy crackdown from the government.
