Washington, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray, plagued by a scandal involving his campaign four years ago, lost the Democratic primary on Tuesday to Councilwoman Muriel Bowser. Five members of the mayor’s 2010 campaign team have pleaded guilty to felonies. In every election since the city began having a mayor four decades ago, the winner of the Democratic primary has gone on to win the mayoral race. However, Bowser will face a legitimate challenger in independent Councilmember David Catania.
