Considering that Game of Thrones’ fourth season premiered with a record-breaking 6.6 million viewers, HBO has decided to do the only logical thing and renew the series for at least another two seasons. The cable network announced Tuesday it has reached a deal with showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to keep the series going at least through season six. The premiere garnered the most viewers for HBO since The Sopranoes 2007 finale. Last season, the show averaged a weekly audience of 14.4 million. This renewal will make Game of Thrones HBO’s longest running originally scripted show currently on the air.
