Federal official are investigating after a bus carrying prospective students for Humboldt State University was struck by a FedEx truck in California on Thursday. The drivers of the bus and truck were killed along with eight other people, including some of the students. The truck crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting one car, and then the bus. “As we mourn the loss of those who died, we join all Californians in expressing our gratitude for the tireless work of the Red Cross and emergency personnel who responded bravely to this terrible tragedy,” said Governor Jerry Brown in a statement. FedEx says it is pledging full cooperation with the investigation.
