Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin has ordered an independent review into the state’s execution procedures following Tuesday's botched execution of convicted murderer Clayton Lockett by lethal injection. In a press conference Wednesday, Fallin also issued an executive order to stop further executions until May 13. The stay will be extended if the review hasn't been completed by then. Lockett had sued the state to disclose the source of the execution drugs, but Fallin overruled a stay granted by the state Supreme Court and allowed his execution to move forward. Fallin, a Republican, stressed that Lockett was “convicted in a fair trial by a jury of his peers. He had his day in court.”
