It's review time for the V.A. On Thursday, Veteran Affairs Secretary Eric Shiseki ordered the department to conduct "a comprehensive, independent review" of medical facilities that are being accused of abuse and cover-ups. He also declared there would be a nationwide audit of other major healthcare facilities in the country by more than 200 senior department staff. "You and your families deserve to have full faith in your VA, and we intend to earn it," he said. Shiseki has displayed little interest in stepping down in the wake of the widespread abuse and misconduct allegations, saying he would leave that up to President Obama.
