The results of a Congressionally mandated report on the future of NASA are in, and it essentially argues that the entire focus of NASA should be on getting humans on Mars. The 285-page report released Wednesday, says that while having Mars as a goal is not new, NASA and the U.S. government should pick the planet as its goal because current space exploration is not focused. In addition, the report called for consistent increased financing for space that will not fluctuate from administration to administration, and that the U.S. must look past the International Space Station. The National Research Council, which issued the report, also said that landing on Mars will require more cooperation with China, which federal law currently probates NASA from doing.
