Amy Van Dyken, the first female American athlete to win four gold medals in one Olympics game in 1996, got into an accident while driving her all-terrain vehicle in Arizona. Van Dyken, who is a six-time gold winner, severed her spine after dropping down a 5-to 7-foot embankment.
