Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan won't be stepping down from power anytime soon. Sunday's three-way race for the first-ever democratically elected president of Turkey handed the title to Erdogan, who received 52.2 percent of the vote. Erdogan has been prime minister for more than a decade and cannot return to the position of prime minister. He has declared his intentions to turn the role seen as largely ceremonial, into one of power. Erdogan's rivals were Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, a diplomat, and the Kurdish politician Selahattin Demirtas.
