Finally, some good news. On Tuesday, a Chinese zoo revealed that one of its pandas had successfully given birth to the world’s first surviving panda triplets. Guangzhou’s Chimelong Safari Park showed off the infant panda trio to the public on Tuesday, since the babies and mother are well enough to nurse. Juxiao gave birth to the triplets on July 29, but was so exhausted that she was unable to care for them at the time. After weeks in incubators, the triplets have returned to Juxiao. “It was a miracle for us and [the births] exceeded our expectations,” said safari park director Doug Guixin. “It’s been 15 days. They have lived longer than any other triplets so far.” An official from Sichuan Wolong National Nature Reserve said pandas are only considered surviving if they have lived at least six months, but these recent additions are “For now indeed the only surviving triplets.”
