A Chicago appeals court ruled on Thursday that Wisconsin's and Indiana’s gay marriage bans are unconstitutional. The three-judge panel at the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimusly, bringing the number of states where gay marriage will become legal to 21. Judge Richard Posner ruled the bans derived from “hate…and savage discrimination” against gays. The 40-page ruling also condemned the states' arguments against gay marriage, stating, "The only rationale that the states put forth with any conviction—that same-sex couples and their children don't need marriage because same-sex couples can't produce children, intended or unintended—is so full of holes that it cannot be taken seriously."
