Seeking to make a deal with Iran, the U.S. is now reportedly willing to soften demands regarding the country’s uranium-enrichment program. A new proposal would allow Iran to keep almost half of its project intact while putting in place new obstacles to its potential use for nuclear weapons. The new approach comes after little progress has been made in the months of negotiations between Iran and other world powers. The U.S. has said it wants no more than 1,500 centrifuges operating, while Iran has insisted it be able to run at least its current 9,400 machines. The new U.S. offer would meet the Iranians almost halfway on that number.
