An inquiry by the New York City Investigation Department has been opened into the failure of the chief of staff to the wife of New York's mayor to disclose during a background check that she shares a home with a man convicted of several crimes including manslaughter. Hassaun McFarlan, boyfriend of Rachel Noerdlinger, was convicted of manslaughter as a teen, has been arrested multiple arrests, and nearly ran over a New Jersey state trooper last fall. Noerdlinger has not made a statement, but the mayor's press secretary said, "The administration knows of no action being taken against Rachel, but does know that she comes to work every day committed to serving the people of our city across the five boroughs on the critical issues that matter.”
