Hundreds of students at Harvard University received racially charged email death threats Thursday afternoon that said the suspect would come to campus on Saturday and shoot the message’s recipients. Harvard police say they are investigating “several leads” on who sent the emails. “While we cannot verify at this time that this is a real threat, every member of our community should be familiar with these Active Shooter Safety Guidelines,” read an alert sent to students. The emails were addressed to “all students at Harvard” and included racist language, referring to recipients as “slit-eyes.” The author of the email self-identified as Stephanie Nguyen and claimed to live in Boston, though the sender’s email address in one email identified him or her as Eduardo Nguyen and another identified the sender as Huy Dinh. Many of the emails’ recipients have Asian surnames.
