Three buildings at the Flight 93 National Memorial’s headquarters in Pennsylvania were destroyed on Friday after a major fire broke out. No one was reported injured. The three buildings were located a mile away from where a United Airlines flight crashed into a field on Sept. 11, 2001 (the field memorial site itself was undamaged, according to the National Park Service). The three buildings held at least ten percent of the memorial’s collection of artifacts, though employees managed to salvage a photo collection and an oral history collection. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
