Eight firefighters were injured battling a massive fire at a Los Angeles storage facility filled with such combustibles as furniture, artwork, and vinyl records but which had no sprinkler system, city and fire officials said. More than 300 firefighters battled overnight to put out the blaze, which broke out late Saturday at a two-story Extra Space Storage in the beachside neighborhood of Venice. Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Bonin said the building was “like a death trap” and had a “layout like a mouse maze.” The fire took some 14 hours to extinguish. The cause was under investigation.
