Yemeni Ministers Boycott New Government

Yemen swore in a new government on Sunday amidst objections from the country's ruling party. Three ministers from the General People's Congress, the party of former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh, boycotted the ceremony. Saleh and powerful Shiite rebels, the Houthis, publicly rejected the new government. For weeks, Yemeni leaders struggled to form a government. After weeks of violence, the UN brokered a deal last week that resulted in Khaled Bahah being named prime minister with all Yemini political parties agreeing on an independent technocrat cabinet. Saleh, who is currently sanctioned by the UN along with many Houthi rebels, could throw wrench in efforts to bring stability to Yemen after weeks of violence and terrorist attacks.
