The NFL players’ union is lashing out against the suspension of Adrian Peterson, who beat his four-year-old son with a wooden switch and pled no contest earlier this month to misdemeanor reckless assault. On Tuesday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Peterson without pay for the rest of the season and said he would not be considered for reinstatement before April 15. The NFLPA calls the punishment “unprecedented, arbitrary and unlawful” and demands that an independent arbitrator reviews Peterson’s case. Peterson has said he didn't mean to harm his son, just discipline him.
