Yet another ship carrying hundreds of migrants that was abandoned by its crew has been rescued by the Italian coast guard. The cargo ship was left drifting Friday after running out of fuel roughly 40 miles off the coast. The 50-year-old ship was designed to carry livestock, but instead was carrying as many as 450 people. “When we hailed the ship to ask about its status, a migrant woman responded, saying, ‘We are alone and we have no one to help us,’” a spokesman for the coast guard said. The nationality of the migrants is not yet known. In 2014, 160,000 seaborne migrants reached Italy.
