Andrew Brannan, a Vietnam War veteran who was convicted of murdering a 22-year-old sheriff’s deputy in 1998, was executed Tuesday in Jackson, Georgia. Brannan, who according to his lawyers suffered from post-traumatic stress and bipolar disorder at the time of the shooting, was given a lethal injection at 7 p.m.
