Two Italian female aid workers that were captured by al Qaeda were released on Thursday, the Telegraph reported. Vanessa Marzullo and Greta Ramelli were kidnapped by Jabhat Al-Nusra, an al Qaeda affiliate in Syria, six months ago while working on aid projects in Aleppo. They were seen in a video posted last month dressed in black hijabs and pleading for their lives. Italy has paid ransoms in the past for the release of its citizens taken hostage. It is unknown if a ransom was paid in this case.
