The Islamic State surprised 350 infant, elderly or disabled captives on Saturday when the radical group delivered them to safety in Kirkuk, part of Iraq’s Kurdish region. They were captured last summer after a raid in northwest Iraq—one of many that left dozens of villages populated by the religious minority under the control of the Islamic State. Kurdish ground forces, along with American airstrikes, had previously pushed back against ISIS at Mount Sinjar, marking a victory for thousands of displaced Yazidis.
