For the first time, scientists have documented a direct link between the increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide and the increase in thermal radiation heating the earth's surface. The report published Wednesday in Nature adds evidence to the theory that human behavior has contributed to global warming. By making almost daily atmospheric observations for ten years, the scientists concluded that "a rise in CO2 concentrations of 22 parts per million boosted the amount of incoming thermal radiation from CO2 by 0.2 watts per square meter, an increase of about 10 percent," said Science News.
