Harper Lee isn't exactly a sweet old lady. The beloved author of To Kill a Mockingbird and the upcoming Go Set a Watchman likes her privacy and made that very well-known to an intrepid reporter in Alabama. “Go away!” Lee simply and directly wrote to Connor Sheets, a reporter for AL.com, after he reached out to her via mail after trying to contact her, her lawyer, and her publisher multiple times. “I received an envelope without a return address, made out to ‘Conner Sheets.’ I opened it without fanfare, only to find my letter, wrinkled and refolded, with four words and one punctuation mark scrawled in cursive Sharpie at the bottom: ‘Go Away! Harper Lee,’” wrote Sheets.
