Illinois Republican Rep. Aaron Schock reportedly billed taxpayers for at least 10 of his House staffers to accompany him on a weekend trip to New York City last September, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Sunday. Schock’s staffers spent little time doing government work while in NYC for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, but still managed to spend $10,053 of taxpayers’ money. A Schock spokesman confirmed to the Sun-Times that at least 10 staffers were in attendance. The congressman has recently come under fire for his spending habits, which include using taxpayers’ money to charter a plane between Peoria and Chicago for a Chicago Bears game as well as lavishly redecorating his office with a Downton Abbey theme.
