Federal prosecutors are looking into another alleged case of Chris Christie punishing a mayor who didn’t endorse him, akin to what is said to have happened in the Bridgegate scandal and with the mayor of Hoboken. Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, a Democrat, has claimed the Christie administration punished him for not endorsing Christie, a Republican, for re-election in 2013. Now federal investigators are seeking records from Port Authority officials, including Bridgegate veterans David Wildstein and Bill Baroni. Fulop said that meetings with state officials were canceled within an hour of his decision not to back Christie.
Correction: An earlier version of this Cheat referred to the mayor of Hoboken as the mayor of Newark.
