Wichita State upset No. 2 seed Kansas in a 78-65 win in the third round of the Midwest Region on Sunday, earning the Shockers a spot in the Sweet 16. Tekele Cotton led the No. 7 seed with 19 points while Fred VanVleet chipped in 17 and Evan Wessel scored 12, hitting four three-pointers. The Shockers (30-4) had not played the Jayhawks (27-9) since 1993 and have tried for years to schedule a game against Kansas. Witchita State will move on to the Midwest Regional semifinal to face No. 3 seed Notre Dame. Also on Sunday, No. 3 seed Oklahoma beat Dayton, No. 11, in a 72-66 victory to advance to the Sweet 16.
