Indiana Gov. Mike Pence on Thursday signed into law a bill that prevents state or local governments from significantly hampering a person’s ability to exercise their religion. Critics of the bill argued that it would allow discrimination, especially against the LGBT community, in the name of religion. Pence and members of the Republican-led General Assembly called the concerns a “misunderstanding.” “This bill is not about discrimination,” Pence said, “and if I thought it legalized discrimination I would have vetoed it.”
