The mayor of Indianapolis has asked the state's General Assembly to add sexual orientation as a protected class, saying he's issuing an executive order that city money must be used in accordance with the human rights ordinance. Indiana signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which opponents say could pave the way for LGBT discrimination. The state has faced nation-wide condemnation and boycotts. "Our city thrives because we have welcomed and embraced diversity. And RFRA threatens what thousands have spent decades building," Mayor Greg Ballard said.
