Three editors from a Malaysian news portal have been arrested and charged with sedition over a story on punishments handed out under Islamic law, authorities said Tuesday. Managing editor Lionel Morais, features editor Zulkifli Sulong and Malay news editor Amin Iskandar were taken into custody after police and officials from the Malaysian Communications Multimedia Commission (MCMC) raided The Malaysian Insider offices and seized computers on Monday. The news report prompting the arrest discussed how Malaysia's monarchy, the Confederation of Rulers, rejected a proposal to amend a law that could allow the use if Islamic punishment.
