A U.S. citizen detained in Pakistan was secretly flown to New York to stand trial for allegedly supporting al Qaeda. Muhanad Mahmoud al Sarekh, 29, will be arraigned in federal court in Brooklyn on Thursday. Sarekh is believed to have joined al Qaeda in 2007 and rose to such prominence that he was put on the U.S. government’s “kill list.” U.S. officials said he was questioned by interrogators from the FBI and CIA. Sarekh was then advised of his Miranda rights and transferred to U.S. custody.
