Michael Schoenfeld, Duke’s vice president for public affairs and government relations, announced at a press conference on Thursday that the undergraduate student responsible for putting a noose in a tree on campus has come forward. Schoenfeld also said the student is no longer on campus, but the student’s name and other personal information will not be released. Another Duke official, Vice President for Student Affairs Larry Moneta, said it is “way too soon” to know what the punishment will be, but that the student will go through the standard student conduct process.
