A two-star general who told subordinates that they would be “committing treason” if they spoke out in favor of an aircraft the Air Force hopes to retire has been fired. An Inspector General's report found that Maj. Gen. James Post's remarks to 300 airmen "had the effect of attempting to prevent some members from lawfully communicating with Congress," according to a news release by the Air Combat Command. Post, for his part, apologized, saying that he never intended "to discourage anyone's access to their elected officials." The airforce decided to retire hundreds of A-10 jets in February as part of an effort to slim down the force's budget, but the move has faced criticism from some in Congress.
