Notorious far-right French politician Jean-Marie Le Pen has dropped his candidacy in upcoming regional votes following a conflict with the National Front party’s leader, his daughter Marine Le Pen. The younger Le Pen publicly withdrew support for her father this month after he referred to Nazi gas chambers as a “detail of history.” Ten years ago, a French court fined him for “inciting racial hatred.”
