A Los Angeles judge found in favor of the wife of former Clippers owner Donald Sterling on Tuesday night, ruling that long-term girlfriend V. Stiviano must return the bulk of the gifts he gave her over two and a half years. Shelly Sterling sought $3 million in compensation for gifts given to Stiviano, which included multiple cars and payments for a duplex, and the judge ordered Stiviano to return nearly the full amount—because the money used was the Sterlings’ “community property.” The victory of “$2,630,000 that Donald lavished on a conniving mistress,” Shelly Sterling’s lawyer Pierce O’Donnell said, “sets a precedent that the injured spouse can recover damages from the recipient of these ill-begotten gifts.”
