Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted during a marathon televised Q&A session Monday that his country’s troops are not present in the war-torn cities of southeastern Ukraine. “I will tell you openly and straightly,” Putin said. “There are no Russian troops in Ukraine.” He also addressed hopeful prospects for Russia’s economy, saying that it has not been adversely affected by Western sanctions.
