Police said on Sunday a group of gunmen opened fire and killed eight people after storming a Sao Paulo soccer fan club connected to a former prison. The attackers raided the Corinthians' fan group Pavilhao 9 around midnight Saturday and shot seven people in the head, witnesses told police. The eighth victim was killed near a gas station after he tried to escape. Authorities did rule out a clash between rival fan groups, according to Detective Arlindo Jose Negrao, but did not disclose a motive for the attack. Pavilhao 9 was founded by Corinthians' fans who played soccer with inmates at Brazil's Carandiru prison.
