Kentucky distillery workers are in deep trouble for stockpiling, stealing, and selling barrels of expensive whiskey. The barrels were discovered behind a shed belonging to a longtime Buffalo Trace Distillery employee, leading to an inquiry and the discovery of what Franklin County attorney Larry Cleveland described as "more than I could imagine one person drinking in a lifetime." The nine—at least three of whom worked at distilleries—are being charged as a "criminal syndicate" and the total value of the bourbon is estimated to be more than $100,000. Authorities also recovered bottles of Pappy Van Winkle whiskey (bottled at the Buffalo Trace), and those arrested are believed to have sold more than 300 bottles of the pricey brand.
