Police said 15 people were injured when several explosions blasted Thailand's southern city Yala on Thursday night and Friday morning. The improvised bombs were detonated at 17 places throughout the restive city, including commercial districts and banks, according to police Col. Jamlong Suwalak. Police also found two devices that did not explode, he added. Yala is among three Muslim-dominant provinces in a mostly Buddhist country. More than 5,000 people have died since clashes with an Islamic insurgency began in the region 2004.
