The Georgia school principal who attracted national attention for a racist remark during a graduation ceremony has been fired, according to the school’s board of directors. “You people are being so rude to not listen to this speech,” Nancy Gordeuk told the gathered audience while trying to get them to pay attention to the valedictorian, who she had forgotten to call during the ceremony. “It was my fault that we missed it in the program. Look who’s leaving—all the black people.” A new video shows she apologized while still at the podium. “Anybody who knows me knows I did not mean that in a racial manner,” she said. “I was frustrated at that man because I wanted Hank to have the respect he needed to give his speech.”
