Authorities seized more than 150 pounds of heroin from Mexico in New York City's Bronx neighborhood in the largest bust in the state's history, officials said Tuesday. The Drug Enforcement Administration and Special Narcotics (DEA) Prosecutor Bridget Brennan added the heroin, worth at least $50 million, was the fourth largest seizure in the U.S. Authorities have arrested Jose Mercedes and Yenci Cruz Francisco and recovered $2 million in cash in the bust. "To put it in perspective, this load was so large it carried the potential of supplying a dose of heroin to every man, woman and child in New York City," Brennan said in a statement. Officials believe the ring had been receiving similar monthly shipments from suppliers in Mexico.
