Baltimore police said Freddie Gray was “irate” in a transport van following his arrest and that they had to restrain him, but that account is being challenged by new video obtained by The Baltimore Sun. In the video taken by a bystander, Gray is seen “halfway out of the van, his stomach flat on the floor, and his legs hanging off the back. He does not move as four officers stand over him and place shackles around his ankles.” Thanks to those shackles and not wearing a seatbelt, Gray “suffered a severe and critical neck injury,” prosecutors say.
