An issue in Google Maps that led users to the White House when they searched for variations of “nigger” and “house” has been fixed for many users, the company announced Friday. The issue was first flagged Tuesday, and Google said it was a result of its search-ranking function. As of Friday morning, an updated algorithm has fixed “majority of these searches,” and Google will roll out the fix gradually. “We apologize. This has taken some time to resolve,” engineering executive Jen Fitzpatrick said.
