Colombian paramilitary warlord Rodrigo Perez-Alzate, who goes by the alias Julian Bolivar, walked freely out of jail on Friday as part of a decades-old peace deal. Perez-Alzate surrendered to government forces in 2006 along with 30,000 right-wing fighters as part of a deal promising reduced prison time. He completed eight years in a maximum security prison. Perez-Alzate is also wanted for extradition to the U.S. for charges of smuggling cocaine into Florida, but Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos denied the extradition request, saying that Perez-Alzate was cooperating with Colombian prosecutors.
