FIFA President Sepp Blatter deflected blame for the corruption unearthed yesterday by U.S. and Swiss law enforcement, saying it was the actions of a “tiny minority.” Blatter spoke at the opening of the annual FIFA congress. “I cannot monitor everyone all of the time,” he said. “If people want to do wrong they will also try to hide it. But it must fall to me to bear the responsibility for the reputation and wellbeing of our organization and to find a way forward to fix things.” Blatter is up for re-election for a fifth term as president on Friday.
