San Juan, Puerto Rico's mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz experienced a bit of New York attitude when a yellow cab driver refused to take her from Manhattan back to her hotel because it was in the Bronx. Cruz, who was in town for the New Museum's "Ideas City" conference, said when she asked to be taken to the Opera House Hotel in the Bronx on Wednesday night, the driver said he didn't know how to get there and did not have a GPS system before he booted the mayor and three of her colleagues from the cab. NYC taxi drivers are not legally permitted to refuse a ride. The group got into another cab but the driver complained throughout the whole ride about having to drive the distance, Cruz said. Allan Fromberg, a spokesman for the taxi commission, apologized to the mayor, calling the drivers "an unfortunate aberration."
