Sepp Blatter, who announced Tuesday that he will resign as the head of FIFA, is now the focus of a U.S. criminal investigation into corruption at FIFA. (Blatter has not been publicly identified as a target for the investigation, so the FBI has yet to comment.) The New York Times reported Tuesday that U.S. officials are hoping to extract information from some of the 14 FIFA officials who have already been arrested and charged, then work their way up the organization from there—just like they did against the mafia.
