All-women's Barnard College announced Thursday that it will begin accepting transgender women. The new policy was approved by the school’s board of trustees Wednesday and applies to prospective students who “consistently live and identify as women, regardless of the gender assigned to them at birth.” Additionally, any students who enter Barnard as women but transition to living as male during their time as students will be able to stay and receive a degree. Conversely, students born female but who identify as men when they apply are ineligible, along with students who identify as neither gender.
