FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke announced at a press conference Wednesday that the soccer body has suspended the bidding process to host the 2026 World Cup, amid investigations into whether bribes resulted in Russia and Qatar getting the 2018 and 2022 tournaments. The U.S., Canada, and Mexico were expected to be among the countries bidding to host the 2026 games, with the winner announced by the spring of 2017.
